My name is Bianca Carlson. I am a Salem resident, a mother, a dog lover, and I’m excited to share that on Tuesday March 14th, I will be up for election for a 3-year term on Salem’s Planning Board.
Since my appointment in 2022, I have been serving on this board as an alternate and learned so much from the applicants, their representatives, and my fellow board members. It would be an honor to have the opportunity to serve as a full time board member for the next three years.
Last year, the Planning Board experienced a steady stream of applicants including Trickett Realty at 2 N. Broadway, Bluebird Self Storage at 15-18 Manor Parkway, and various lot line adjustments at Tuscan Village. Looking forward, the next three years will be a transformative time in Salem as we continue with the Tuscan Village development. Additionally, with Salem’s recent boom over the past several years, it is key that we make strides towards providing much needed housing for ALL, as well as business opportunities at a sustainable rate. Equally crucial is the pressing need for improved infrastructure in town.
Salem has demonstrated great potential to grow, and I feel we are positioned to continue seeing opportunities that encourage new businesses and existing business expansion.
Through years of coaching cheerleading in both Wilmington and Salem, MA, I learned the invaluable impact of volunteering within my community. After becoming a mother, I decided to find other ways to give back to my community while still having plenty of time with my growing son. In 2022, I joined the Young Professionals Advisory Council for Housing Families, a 501(c)3 non-profit committed to achieving housing equity and well-being for all. As a member of the Council, I lead fundraising initiatives to help those facing housing insecurity or homelessness.
I hold an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Middlesex Community College and a Massachusetts Real Estate Salesperson’s license.
Professionally, I have spent nearly the last decade in the real estate industry. During that time, I have gained extensive knowledge relating to construction, entitlements, and intricate real estate transactions. I believe that my time on the Planning Board, combined with my skills and professional experiences position me to be an objective and productive member of the Planning Board.
As a resident for two and a half years, I have quickly planted my roots and made Salem my home. When I think of the future, I think of my son attending Salem Public Schools and continuing my own involvement in public programs and organizations. Three years on this board would give me the chance to contribute to this community I call home.
If you’re still with me, thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences with you. I look forward to the chance to hear and learn your experiences as your Planning Board member. I invite you to continue the conversation through the form below, and to consider my candidacy as you head to the polls on March 14th. I hope to gain your support to allow me to serve for the next 3 years on your planning board.
